Medicare plans in Florida, explained simply.
Medicare has a lot of moving parts, and choosing wrong can cost you in premiums, copays, and networks. I'll walk you through every option and compare plans available in your county.
- Medicare Advantage (Part C): all-in-one plans that often include drug coverage plus extras like dental, vision, and hearing
- Medicare Supplement (Medigap): helps pay what Original Medicare doesn't, with freedom to see any doctor who accepts Medicare
- Part D: prescription drug plans, checked against your exact medications and pharmacy
- Turning 65: enroll on time and avoid lifelong late-enrollment penalties
Key enrollment dates
- Annual Enrollment Period
- October 15 to December 7. Change your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan for the coming year.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment
- January 1 to March 31. If you're in an Advantage plan, you can make one switch.
- Initial Enrollment Period
- The 7 months around your 65th birthday month.
Who ACA plans are for
- Self-employed & gig workers
- No employer plan? Marketplace coverage fills the gap.
- Families & individuals
- Plans include essential benefits like doctor visits, prescriptions, and preventive care.
- Between jobs or retiring early
- Losing coverage can qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period.
Premium tax credit eligibility depends on household income and size. Open Enrollment runs each fall; outside of it, you generally need a qualifying life event to enroll.

As a certified Marketplace agent, I can help you compare plans, see if you qualify for a tax credit that lowers your premium, and enroll, at no extra cost to you.

Protect your family, your home, and your legacy.
Because I'm independent, I shop multiple life insurance carriers to match your budget, health, and goals.
Mortgage Protection
Coverage sized to your home loan, paid to your family so they can keep the house. Many policies include living benefit riders.
Final Expense
Smaller whole life policies that cover funeral costs and final bills, often with simple health questions and no exam.
Cash Value Life
Permanent whole life or indexed universal life that builds cash value you can access over time. Best for long-term savers.
Rider availability, costs, and qualifying conditions vary by carrier and state. Policy loans and withdrawals reduce cash value and death benefit. All policies are subject to underwriting.
Hi, I'm Schweivensky Metellus.
I founded Metellus Insured Brokerage to give Florida families what they rarely get from insurance companies: straight answers and real choices.
As an independent broker, I'm not tied to a single company. I compare plans across multiple carriers, explain the trade-offs in plain English, and stay with you after you enroll, whether that's an annual Medicare review, an ACA renewal, or a question about a claim.

Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to work with you?
No. Consultations are free and there's no obligation. I'm paid by the insurance company when a policy is issued, and your premium is the same whether you enroll with me or directly with the carrier.
Can I keep my doctors?
Often, yes. Before recommending a plan, I check whether your doctors and hospitals are in network so there are no surprises.
What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Medicare Supplement?
Medicare Advantage plans replace Original Medicare with an all-in-one plan, usually with a network and copays. Medicare Supplements work alongside Original Medicare to cover out-of-pocket costs and let you see any provider that accepts Medicare. The right choice depends on your health, budget, and how you like to see doctors.
Can you help me if I'm under 65?
Yes. I help individuals and families compare ACA Marketplace plans and check eligibility for premium tax credits, plus life insurance for any stage of life.
When can I change my Medicare plan?
The main window is the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7. Certain life events, like moving or losing other coverage, can also qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period.
Do you only work in Florida?
I'm based in Port St. Lucie and serve clients throughout Florida, and in other states where I'm licensed. Reach out and I'll confirm I can help where you live.
